How to Celebrate the Royal Wedding at Home

May 6, 2018 By Megan Leave a Comment

The countdown to the royal wedding is on! Just because you weren’t invited to the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate. Throw a viewing party of your own at home to wish the couple well. The royal wedding will take place on May 19 at 12 p.m. GMT (7 a.m. ET and 4 a.m. PT) at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle in England.

When Prince William married Kate Middleton in 2011, fans from around the world joined together to mark the occasion. They held viewing parties, traded memorabilia, and had the time of their lives toasting to the happy couple.

Here are some suggestions for hosting a last minute royal wedding viewing party at home.

Establish a Dress Code

The bigger the fascinator, the better. Tell your guests to channel Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie circa 2011.

Every Guest gets a Flag

Of course, no royal wedding processional would be complete without lots of flag waving.

Photo Booth

Set up a British-themed photo booth so guests can snap some pictures.

Tea Party

One party option is a British-themed tea party, with scones, finger sandwiches, and tea.

Florals

Markle’s favorite flowers are peonies, and Kensington Palace tweeted that the floral designer, Philippa Craddock, will use flowers in season, including peonies.

Make Lemon Elderflower Cake

The Kensington Palace announced that Meghan and Harry would be serving lemon elderflower cake at the wedding.

Royal Family Masks & Cutouts

Bring London to your home by giving out royal couple masks to your guests. These are sure to be a big hit!
