As a mother of three young children, staying on top of clean up and organizing of our home is non stop. I find that our children’s playroom is by far the most challenging. There were a lot of issues in this space and the kid’s were running out of room to play. I felt like every single section of the playroom was packed with toys. Much of which the kids never even played with. Not only did this make it hard for the kid’s to play, but also to find the toys they were looking for. Not to mention that the room was always a mess because nothing had a designated spot.
From the beginning we weren’t very crazy about the layout of the space. The actual play area was limited and it always felt tight and crowded. It was frustrating. I really didn’t know where to start. So I finally realized that I needed some professional assistance with this project.
That’s when I reached out to Matt Baier Organizing. Matt and his professional team showed up on time every visit and always ready to work. Thank goodness for Matt and his crew! I was so impressed with his organizing skills and his feel for de-cluttering a room.
At our first meeting Matt came to our home to check out our disastrous playroom. We sat down and he basically discussed his plan for our space. Matt provided me with a clear recommendation list. The list included a wardrobe rack for the kid’s dress-up clothes, bookcase for the all books, clear bags for the small toys with lots of pieces, and which cubbies and baskets would work for all of our toys and plush animals.
Once laid out, I went online to amazon and ordered all white cubbies in different sizes for our exact space. We had never used opened cubbies in our playroom, however, we absolutely love them now! The kid’s can see what’s inside the cubbies because they are open and pretty much eye level. It makes it so much easier for the kids to play and clean up too. Plus, I also made a trip to Homegoods and bought a ton of baskets in all different sizes. I remembered to keep the tags on everything so I could return whatever we didn’t use.
Once the cubbies and baskets were in house, Matt and his team did all the organizing. They brought everything out of the playroom space that needed to be organized into another room. Then they set up labeled posters on the wall indicating a home for everything. Literally I didn’t have to lift a finger! I just sat down at the folding table and told them what to discard, donate, sell, gift to, and verbally assist in naming the labels for the storage units. It made the process go by so fast.
After we went through the bulk items, we went about fine tuning the playroom space with the toys, books, plush animals, dress up clothes, and books the kid’s and I wanted to keep. It felt so good to get rid of such much junk!
Matt has a basis organizing process for any space. It follows these principles… Sort: context drives decisions, Prioritize: momentum trumps perfection, Assign: frequency merits facility, Containerize: quantity dictates systems, Equalize: circulation prevents accumulation.
Now, our children and I love our new playroom space and everything is Pinterest pretty. Not only were we able to get an organized and functional space, but it is also visually pleasing as well. My family and I highly recommend Matt Baier Organizing. Matt and his team are professional organizers and de-clutter homes and offices in Stamford, New Canaan, Greenwich, Westport, Darien, Norwalk, Fairfield, Westchester County, and New York City.
