For ‘New Year’s Eve 2020’ our entire family spent the night at The Blake Hotel in New Haven, CT. We loved our stay at The Blake Hotel, and our fun time exploring the City of New Haven for first night. The Blake Hotel is glorious, a modern, boutique style hotel. It’s casually elegant, located close to Yale University.
Our spacious, pristine guest room had a full kitchenette offering both style and comfort, very practical. Additional amenities include a fitness center and available 24-hour lobby market. The lobby itself was so chic with a contemporary design, boasting a gas fireplace, beautiful decor, comfortable furniture, and various artwork on display. The Blake was extremely clean, a nice fresh feel. The entire hotel staff was pleasant, friendly, and always accommodating.
New Haven is Connecticut’s second-largest city, and to most it’s synonymous with two things: Yale University and pizza. Yale plays a large role in the city’s culture and the pizza is indeed up there with the best in America. New Haven is multi-layered and multi-faceted, a great walking town with a fascinating history, with an abundance of fun things to do and sights to see, making it a fabulous destination for a weekend visit.
We walked from The Blake Hotel to 116 Crown for family dinner inside an igloo, set up outside on the outdoor dining area. My husband Joseph and I loved the creative cocktails, and cheese boards. And obviously our three children loved eating in an igloo, totally different for sure. They have a great menu for both adults and children. My son Nico said he ate in a bubble.
After dinner we walked to Milkcraft for a very trendy dessert. Our kids really enjoy ice cream, especially from Milkcraft. Then the short walk back to the Blake, in plenty of time to watch from our room’s television the ball drop to welcome 2021. It was a fun way to get away for the night as a family, a nice stay in a chic hotel, relax and simply enjoy each other. The Blake Hotel is definitely one of New Haven’s hidden gems.
