Lake Compounce is America’s First Amusement Park, located in Bristol, Connecticut, founded in 1846. I grew up going to Lake Compounce and was so excited to take my family. The park is home to a variety of thrilling rides, including roller coasters, water rides, games, concerts, and family-friendly attractions. The park is located in a unique and stunning setting along the mountainside and taking center stage is the park’s iconic lake.
One of the most popular attractions at Lake Compounce, and my family’s favorite, was Boulder Dash, a wooden roller coaster that has been consistently ranked among the best in the world. This coaster features a series of drops, twists, and turns that take riders up the mountainside and through the surrounding forest. Other rides we loved include Ghost Hunt, the park’s dark ride and the park’s Kiddie Land area which offers several rides for the little ones.
In addition to its rides, Lake Compounce also offers a variety of entertainment options. This summer, visitors can enjoy live music every Saturday on the park’s all-new floating lake stage and fireworks every Saturday in July! The park also hosts special events throughout the year, including it’s all-new day to night Halloween event Phantom Fall Fest and Holiday Lights which features Connecticut’s Tallest Christmas Tree.
I am so excited to share that this year, running every Saturday from Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day Weekend, guests of all ages are invited to listen to their favorite tribute bands and national acts, including Jerrod Niemann, Everclear, CeeLo Green, Canaan Smith, and All-4-One. There’s a sound for everyone this summer on the brand-new floating lake stage. Plus every concert is free with park admission!
Lake Compounce is a must-visit destination for families looking for a fun-filled summer day of thrills and entertainment. With its historic charm, stunning location, and a wide variety of attractions, it is easy to see why this park has been a beloved Connecticut institution for over 175 years. The Schinella Family highly recommends putting Lake Compounce on your bucket list this Summer.
